Day 4 in this crazy world we now find ourselves in and I woke up feeling like I had been hit by a bus sized brick. I can't put my finger on what it is but as the day has gone on, I feel tired and like Selina is sitting on my chest. I don't have a cough, I don't have a fever nor do I have any pain in my chest. It's so easy to assume that it is COVID-19 in this time but all I can do, is follow government guidelines and keep and eye on the symptoms.
Because of how I woke up, my day has consisted of a long soak in the bath with a face mask, a nap and tidying up the library of books that Selina has thrown on the floor at multiple times today. Ryan has been a godsend. I'm thankful he is home but sorry for being a pain! I did manage to get a beef casserole in the slow cooker this morning so we did not have to worry about tea.
So, lets talk about the frontline workers who are keeping this country afloat. The NHS workers, the supermarket staff, the teachers, firefighters, police, cleaners - the list is endless. To all of you, I thank you. I thank you for the sacrifice that you are making, for putting your lives at risk so that the rest of us, can stay healthy and fed. I thank you and the nation thanks you. You are ALL the Pride of this nation and I hope, that at the end of this, there is some kind of recognition for you all. For what you have done and will continue to do. I want to give my biggest thanks, to my Mum. My mum works in a supermarket and on a daily basis, is up at the crack of dawn, to serve the public. She has had to face people handing over money which has been in their mouths (yes, really!), people being rude, people not respecting the 2m social distancing rule and utter selfish behaviour. She finishes work, and then delivers food to my Nana who is now in isolation following the government recommendations. She has delivered necessities to Ryan & I and had to endure seeing Selina through the window. Then, she goes home and is Wife and Mother to my dad and brother, cooking and cleaning. She is my Hero. Tonight at 8pm, Ryan and I, joined in the rapturous applause from our window, in aid of celebrating the nations heroes who are risking themselves for the sake of others. There were rounds of applause, car horns and even fireworks. I am not going to lie, I cried. We are all in this together, in this (what seems at times) film plot of life. All we can do, is listen to what we are being told to do and we will get through this.
COVID-19 - YOU WILL NOT BREAK US
