Days 6 + 7 - I think..

I decided to amalgamate days 6+7, let's just do a weekend update.

It's been a weird weekend. The weather was odd, which meant we were restricted to the house....oh...wait...

Selina spent time in her colouring box again - I'm going to have to find more boxes for her! I have seen the cardboard houses from Hobbycraft that you can get, I may have to invest and see how she gets on with that.

Ryan and I (well me...) made the other meal from our gifted Mindful Chef box (I didn't get a picture as I was too busy eating). It was chicken and leek pie with a mustard cauli mash. Only one thing to say, I'm never having normal mash again. The creamy potato and cauli mash, mixed with wholegrain mustard has changed my life. Selina loved it too! Does anyone else swell with pride when their little ones demolish a homemade dish? Granted, it wasn't my recipe but it's being kept and will most definitely be made again. If anyone wants the recipe, drop me a comment!

Ryan spent time trying to work on his assignment and final project but of course, it's hard when you're at home. There's a constant distraction. I feel awful for him. It's his final year and only a month and a bit away from exams and it's all up in the air as to how these will be conducted. Rumours are going around but nothing concrete has been decided. He's worked so hard over the last three years, i would hate to see all this hard work go to waste because of a stupid virus. Let's hope decisions are made soon!

Yesterday's activity was a slimey gelli bath (courtesy of Zimplii kids). A pink gooey bath filled with the balls from her (now unused) ball pit. It smelt AMAZING. Selina wasn't keen. She wouldn't sit down. It reminded me of the time I done messy play with her for the first time. So, she ended up having a shower instead.

Selina has really changed over the last week. 17 months old tomorrow and learning new things daily. She's building towers instead of knocking them down, will tell you what is in her blocks (we have the old school peek-a-blocks), she is remembering so much - she has flash card books and she will tell you what is on the next page. I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of her.

What makes me swell, is her loving nature. She has a special relationship with her 'dandar' (my dad). We facetime everyday and she always wants her Dandar and had the biggest grin for him. Today, she climbed on her chair, up at the window and was shouting for her Nana. She got to see Nana through the window on Thursday and she remembered this. She was blowing kisses and said bye bye. It's heartbreaking knowing that this is going on all over the nation. Families torn apart from each other. Grandparents lonely, friends unable to see each other and toast a celebration. What a time to be thankful for modern technology. The ability to facetime, or have a house party virtually, or engage on a zoom call.

Next weekend, I should have been on a boat going to Amsterdam with my hens. Now I don't even know when my wedding will be. I think that's tomorrow's blog. Wedding blues for a wedding that hasn't yet been.

How are YOU?

I don't know what day it is anymore and to be fair, I don't really care. What I care for is the time that I am spending with my family....
